Default Kubuntu 12.04 Live CD needs nomodeset

Something must have changed in 12.04 because I needed the nomodeset boot option in order to properly boot the live cd - otherwise black screen with blinking cursor.
What are the chances of the nomodeset boot option not being required when I install 12.04 to disk, or perhaps being added automatically ?
Also will it become unnecessary once the nvidia drivers are installed ?

(To add the nomodeset option edit the grub file in /etc/default as follows:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset")

OK - all's well. Installed to disk where 11.10 previously resided. Was surprised to see the latest nvidia driver
was installed and working on first boot. Looks great and I am a happy triple booter.
