Default Echoes on the 'net?

Whether echoes or amplification, it's quite disappointing to see the same source being cited all over the place for various news stories. A recent example is the bit about Steam on Linux. Everything ultimately seems to originate from the Phoronix guy. There's no independent corroboration; no one else is cited.

90% of everything is worthless - that includes articles online.
