If you frequent the Apple forum, subscribers will tell you that you can't get malware unless you let it in. So it's the users fault per them.

I would say its partly the fault of apple for not providing a new version of java which fixes the exploit. Since some users will not patch and not think about what they are doing its partly the fault of users as well.

This is one of the more clear examples of it being the OS's fault. Apple didn't deliver a patch and they implemented a system where users would be behind in patches.

It is always the user's fault regardless of the os.
And you don't need av, period - win/lin/mac. The fact is - there are more than 600K mac users worldwide and they didn't get infected, hence it's user fault. Mrk
