Need your advice here.
I have a good friend with a teen-age son who regularly infected her computer with his porn downloads. I suggested we set up a dual-boot system and put her teen son on a linux system with limited priviledges/filters. We did that and for a couple of years now her computer has not been infected. Son has now purchased a Sony PS3 and is doing whatever can be done with a ps3. My question is can the PS3 download porn and again infect the computers on the network? If so, then what is the best way to contain him? I could set up a guest network and isolate him that way. What do you think, if he goes online with the PS3 what is the best way to keep this kid from infecting mama's computer? No, mama will not tell him "no". Thanks, JIm |

Porn is good and healthy for one's development. Firewall rules will do the trick on other machines, blocking the ip of the ps3 client, which you can hard-set in the router dhcp rules.

Firewall rules would be easier than a guest network, I think.
Thanks for the reply. Jim |

Get Peer Guardian and put anti porn filter.

Mama just wants to block the PS3 from infecting her computer, she does not want to block son's online activities. Will Peer Guarding block her computer from son's PS3 while allowing son to use PS3 on home network for online gaming, etc.?

No it won't. PG is for local computer content. It can be used to block the local machine from connecting to sites/p2p. It will not block network access on lan unless specifically setup, which is exactly what firewalls do in the first place.
Cheers, Mrk
