Default screen freeze

Recently updated to ver:4.6 and using manual update .Unfortunately clicking on "download latest updates "nothing happens ,program freezes and does not respond to "close this program now".Although sometimes pc will restart ,I have had to soft off to force closure and regain control of pc.

Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RT8139 (A/B/C/810x/813x/C+) Fast Ethernet Adapter
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3
DirectX : Version 9.0c (May 2008)
I suppose you need some log files as well,you'll have to tell me where they are.

Both of you seem to have Windows XP Pro SP3 in common.

For what is worth, a relative of mine is using SpywareBlaster on Windows 7, and has no issues. So, it may have either to do with XP or maybe some other third-party security software you may also use...

Do you happen to be using any of the security software mentioned by the other user?

Anyway, hopefully javacool will see both your cases soon enough and come up with a solution.
