I dont know as i dont use hosts file blocking ,but from what i gather ,you cant put *chat* in hosts file and block everything with the word chat in.In avast you can do that.

I am keeping all products as my last option. I was using Online Armor perfectly. Suddenly after the latest update, site blocking broke down completely. Hence I'd like to use something that is right there in the OS (with some tweaking, perhaps) or at least is very tightly integrated with the OS.

very nice program

Pretty late in the day to revisit this, I know, but I can't download forticlient from your link. It just stops midway (never beyond 4MB). Seems that they have changed to lite, that only Cnet installer will download!

[quote=Circe]I've tried a lot of web site blockers/filters because I have two teenage boys. The one that worked for me and IMHO is superior to them all is K9 WEBPROTECTION http://www1.k9webprotection.com/ it is free: /QUOTE]

Why do they ask for account creation? Does k9 phones home with my site visit stats?
