Unhappy BR 2012 not compatible with latest Dell machines ?

Hi,

Seems like the BR 2012 free recovery CD is unable to take/deploy images from the current breed of Dell Optiplex (790/990) and Latitude E6x20 series.
When booting the CD, it seems to load but halts after about 2 seconds. Same happens in safe mode. Changing some BIOS settings (Sata driver, Speedstep, ...) does not help at all.
BR 2011 was also not usefull on these machines, but at least it booted and then failed because it didn't have a driver for the NIC.
Up till the Optiplex 780 and Latitude E6510, BR 2011 (and 2012) worked like a charm. Too bad than neither of these works on newer machines ?
Anybody out there with a possible solution ? In the mean time, we returned to G4L to image the new machines, it works without any problem, but is much sloooower.

Thx,

David

Most likely the Linux environment on the CD doesn't have the correct support for the newer machines. This is a typical issue of any imaging program that uses the Linux method. Paragon's solution is to use WinPE which is Windows based and is more likely to run and if drivers are missing it will allow you to load drivers when you boot it up. However WinPE is available only with the paid product.

There are other free programs like Macrium Reflect and Easus ToDo which I understand offers a WinPE recovery CD if the Linux doesn't work but you have to download the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) from Microsoft and build the CD. Having to build the CD is a Windows licensing mechanism because it forces you to use your copy of Windows to make the CD - if you don't have Windows you can't make it. Obviously this is rather weak.
