EMS RC v1.0.189 behavior question

I've just installed EMS RC for Android on a Motorola Atrix. I notice that upon booting my device, a notification with the 'eye' icon labeled 'ESET Mobile Security' slides into view, then slides away. Then another notification with a magnifying glass icon also labeled 'ESET Mobile Security' slides into view, then slides away. Then the 'eye' notification slides back into view and again slides away. Then the magnifying glass notification slides back into view and slides away again. So these notifications appear twice (each) as the phone's OS is initializing.

My question: Is this double appearance of these notifications normal? I'm guessing they're appearing twice like this to indicate each of two start up checks... one of my internal SD storage device and the other of my external SD storage device. I'd just like to be sure of what's going on.
