Default Drive Copy for Mac hand copying whole HD

I have booted from the Drive Copy CD, and using the wizard to launch making a compressed image of the whole HD (500Gb), which has a Mac OSX and a Windows 7 partition. The image size is reported to be 186 Gb. The image is being written to a partition on an external drive, formatted HFS+.

It has frozen after copying 40 Gb, The time elapsed and remaining, and data copied amount do not change but the animation of compression is still active.

Any suggestions?

Should what I am doing work?

Default Re: Drive Copy for Mac hand copying whole HD

Sorry for typo in title. It was meant to be "Drive Copy for Mac and copying whole HD".

Anyway, I just repeated the exercise, but copying the image to an NTFS external (instead of HFS+ as in failed attempt) and it worked fine, so I guess I found my answer.
