We have no plans to change it at the moment - it hasn't been established as an indefinite giveaway but we intend to keep it for as long as possible

I certainly didn`t see that one coming, and I thought Webroot had well and truly gone by the wayside these days

They've actually just revamped their entire product line and have a new technology focused CEO: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2366659,00.asp

The question is, will Prevx become bloated and unuseable - or will development continue as it stands currently ?

Is this solely a monetary venture, or are they going to have a hands on role in this coupling ?

Prevx 4 is still heavily under development and all Prevx products will continue to be as streamlined as possible.

Our CEO is now a Vice President within Webroot and will continue to manage operations of the Prevx team within Webroot.

Prevx is highly effective as it is today and we have no intentions of lessening the effectiveness and certainly not making it bloated.

Can I understand that Prevx and Webroot will independently exist on the market with their products? If so, it's OK for me. Furthermore I can easily imagine what Webroot will benefit from Prevx but to the contrary ?!? "... combined with Webroot's innovations, customer service and support ..."
OK, I really wonder about Webroot innovations (unfortunately all here have to admit that Webroot has failed against other competitors for last couple of years), as regards customer service and support I don't think it can be better than Joe provides us So what benefits for Prevx in the end? I am not mourning just rather surprised about the acquisition, indeed.

Therefore, Prevx will be still available as separate product (without any Webroot additional toolbar). Am I right?

Integrate? It sounds as if Prevx, both as a company and as a product, will cease to exist as separate entities. True or false?

That doesn`t sound so bad then (?), as long as it`s going to stay a totally separate entity from the other Webroot products and only going to be listed/hosted under the Webroot umbrella...so to speak.

Although, I have to admit that if I had known about this earlier I would probably have NOT renewed my license.

I haven`t tested or used a Webroot product in over 5 years, and past experience would tend to make me avoid them in the future also, this could be entirely wrong of course as they could be wonderful now - but once bitten twice shy etc....people don`t always forget that easily.

What precisely does “merge” entail?

"Feverishly"

Honestly, I almost could have bought into this, if it had been Prevx buying Webroot. How many times has this happened and how many times has the consumer lost out.

My wish list right now:

-Prevx products remain separately available (without any bloat/toolbar).
-Prevx continues to develop its specific products and provide support independently too.
-Prevx SOL (Facebook) continues to exist for unlimited time and get updates just like Prevx CSI. We all are expecting Prevx SOL 4.x.x.xxx (Facebook/Free) too.
-Official Prevx Support Forum remains on Wilders.
-PrevxHelp always available to help us for issues related to Prevx products.

If Webroot incorporates Prevx technology into its current products looks like they will get a totally kick-ass result:

Webroot's AV 2011 recently reviewed:

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2366659,00.asp

Prevx 3 review:

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2346861,00.asp

= kick-ass X 2 :-)

Sorry Joe, but its goodbye to prevx.

This is the worst business deal ever!

Webroot have been in the pits for about 10 years, and now they acquire prevx!?

Hasnt prevx just got a new CEO/director or whatever and immediatly, he puts prevx in the bin.

Disgusting!

Should we read both the lines for the truth
