I'm looking to encrypt my web traffic via some proxy or use a vpn service.
I don't think i am ready to pay for some expensive vpn service which holds logs over my head. I am looking for options. I thought maybe I could setup something like OpenVPN ALS but I am not sure I have the patience(I have the skill). Tor is too slow for me so I probably need to establish some service on my home lan. If you know any inexpensive vpn services that don't keep logs or any other options let me know. Thanks in advance.

Hi apathy,
I hear that there is a 5 euro per month VPN named www.privacy.io that was recommended to Australians that is located in the Netherlands. -- Tom |

It's another PPTP service. No thanks. But it's good to know the new services as they come (and go).

I tested out JanusVM. While it was a very nice setup the speed was horribly slow, even slower than TOR by itself. I am now looking for a vpn service in some country that doesn't log at all and can give me something similar to my own bandwith for around 10-14 dollars a month.

If you're looking for something really inexpensive yet still very fast and based on Open-VPN, try AlwaysVPN. It's pre-paid, but to give you an idea:
* 5GB - USD 8.50 * 10GB - USD 15.00 * 20GB - USD 26.00 * 40GB - USD 33.00 * 80GB - USD 47.00[/list] I don't know what you want to use it for, but if it's just for web surfing, email, forum-posting, etc. and not a lot of downloading, you would be amazed at how long that 10GB at only $15 will go. OpenVPN and fast, it's a good deal if you don't want any long-term monthly commitments. |

What's a ppts? I notice no tos on the site, most unusual for someone to offer no logs like that

I bought a trial of BolehVPN. They use Openvpn with unlimited bandwidth but capped at 4mb. This is fine for me as I'll be web browsing, emailing and a bit of p2p.
It is working very well for me. The company is in Malaysia with servers in other countries. If it continues to be this stable and speed as it has been it will be a winner for me. Later on I may venture into XB or some higher priced vpn service that isn't capped. If I need to.

Maybe I'm blind but I don't see anyone referencing "ppts"...they said PPTP. Also, considering you don't know what that is, and didn't read it correctly, your opinion isn't really useful about that company. If you don't know what it is, then you have no useful opinion on the services quite frankly. |

it wasn't an opinion,it was an observation, and so I made a typo, big deal. Great to see an attitude like yours on this forum, thanks for your unwanted comments |
