Default Why add antivirus feature into retunil 3

One most important reason I like retunil like softwares is it's performance. This kind of softwares do not need to check the file in background. But, from retunil 3, you add the anti-virus feature. Is it going to slow down the system like other anti-virus software?

Hello sunnice and welcome to the forums

The AV in RVS is there for a very specific purpose and does not have the same performance hit you would get from a stand-alone AV solution. The object is to look content as it is being saved to the real disk, is attempting to do something known to be bad, or is attempting to activate without the need to continuously scan the file system etc. This is why the implementation is extremely fast and also why RVS is still compatible with most 1st, and 2nd tier AV solutions.

Give it a try and let us know your impressions of the performance.

Mike

At the moment RVSMON.EXE is chewing up 100% CPU cycles from reboot, even 7 hours later with either "Antiviris" enabled or disabled!

Far more of a "performance" hit than any AV I know of

That don't sound normal, sounds like there is a conflict.

My RVSMON.EXE is only using around 15,000k for memory and most the time 00 for cpu usage.

Try disabling Programs/process's one at a time if you know what ones you can safely close. Just to see what happens so you can try and norrow down the problem. Or possibly you need more memory, I have 8gb's of ram. If your only using 500mb then that may be a problem.

Without AV enable here.

Even when I don't have Returnil enable it has an undesirable behavior: 'rvsmon.exe' is always active and wastes visible CPU usage; with their parameter '-log c:\Windows\rvs3.log'.

We are planning to add more automation in the future that includes log file cleanup. The RVS3 log is important in support situations and helps the team identify RVS related issues that much faster.

Hi Coldmoon, I understand your point. If "RVS3 log is important in support situations and helps the team identify RVS related issues that much faster" it isn't useful in normal situations indeed. An option to disable/clean the 'rvsmon.exe' log action it will be welcomed, once we see a CPU usage activity extra. And there aren't any reason for that activity when AV and system safe are disabled, in normal situation.

Thumbs up Re: Why add antivirus feature into retunil 3

Noticed that in the latest v. 3.1.8774.5254-REL 'rvsmon.exe' doesn't waste visible CPU usage. Great.
