4.2 Beta no longer updatng automatically

Out of the blue the beta version will not update spyware or virus definitions. At the same time Eset tries to shut down and I get repeated shut down windows (like 10-15) until I stop the process with task manager (Vista 32). I d/loaded the beta version over a month ago and have had no problems with updates until now.
