58: Syntax error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC.MANIFEST" on line 5.

59: Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\MFC80U.DLL. Reference error message: The manifest file contains one or more syntax errors.

I have these same errors and installing Visual C++ on a production server that does not currently have it installed is not an option. What is the cause of this error and what is the REAL fix?

The error is simply a notification that a manifest embedded in the installer refers to a different version of the embedded mfc dll. The latest build 4.0.474 has a correct manifest already embedded.
