I have these same errors and installing Visual C++ on a production server that does not currently have it installed is not an option. What is the cause of this error and what is the REAL fix?

The error is simply a notification that a manifest embedded in the installer refers to a different version of the embedded mfc dll. The latest build 4.0.474 has a correct manifest already embedded.
