    Brian,
Thanks for that. Don't know if I can explore this more right now but will keep it in mind. I did notice looking at partitions that the external hard drive on which images are stored listed as an Active primary partition although it has not boot partition on it. Don't know if this could be the problem but might make that partition inactive if I can remember how to do that with BING. Thanks again and I will think of exploring this more with support in fuuture.

Hi, I have version 2.25 installed. Do I need to uninstall first or can I install 2.50 over the old one?
Then I need to rebuild my Bart pe also? thanks

No need to uninstall; on the contrary. For the bartPE, you might need to update it since IFW changed recently its image file format. But you may just use IFL recovery media in case of recovery.

Nice to have for a restore, but not essential. It takes a few minutes to boot where IFD and IFL boot faster. For small images, you could be finished an IFD restore before BartPE had booted.

IFD/IFL Do not offer network support though correct? I keep my images on a networked file server.

    noons,

IFL has network support. Not that you would want to, but you can create and restore images over a wireless network.

Edit... Just in case you didn't know, IFL will restore images created by IFL, IFD and IFW. The image file format is the same.

someome told me this can be used on multiple systems with a single lic? is this true?

also does a lic from 2.26 work for 2.5 or do i need a new key? someone i know does not use the lic they bought so they gave it to me to try out (they never used it after buying they stayed with acronis after all)

    zfactor,

A license is good for two of your own home computers.

    Same key is OK.

These images don't show the scheduling features, virtual drive features, restore features (including unattended restores), networking features (wired and wireless), email reports, installing storage drivers and HALs into non booting OS, etc.

thanks i saw those on the web site. what i am looking for is more info on the above mentioned features.

can it be set to do continuous incrementals?

am i correct the only way to explore the backup is to use the tool offered and it cant be mounted like a sd backup can be correct?

how easy or how well does the bare metal work and that has to be done from the dos boot disk (or linux version id assume) how easy is it to load the needed additional drivers and such into the restore..

im reading the manual but 140+ pages will take me a bit..

can anyone tell me when compared to shadow protect (using now but just to expensive for use at home for three systems imo) how fast are the full and incrementals? are they at all noticable during work??

is it worth the extra 10$ to take the full 5 pack deal with all 5 programs? dont you get the win boot and dos boot free with the normal purchase?

do they charge for version updates?

and i think last does it work fully with 64bit win7

thank you!! sorry for so many questions

It seems as if all the issues IFW had previously with Win 7 are gone because I have done 4 backup/restore & TBIView extracts without the nasty errors I saw previously.. Great job, although being able to mount tbi files would be excellent. We need an independent addon.

I'm sure you will get your wish.

A major advantage of TBIView for me is that it can view files and folders in images made from other file systems. So I can view and copy files in my Linux and DOS images.
