Default Why Comodo EULA say to uninstall HopSurf, uninstall the Ask Toolbar??

Ok, Melih and others insist that HopSurf has completely separate identity compared to Ask Toolbar.

Why then in CIS EULA the instructions to uninstall HopSurf says:
"If you wish to remove and uninstall HopSurf from your computer, click on the "Start" button; then click on the "Settings" button, then click on the "Control Panel" button, then click on the "Add or Remove Programs" button, then look for ”Ask Toolbar” and click on the "Change/Remove" button."

This is bad.

Comodo is engaged in several unethical practices.

This comes on top of that.

Comodo's owner (?) Melih, attempts to defend their issues with certificates, in this video: http://www.comodovision.com/?p=343

He even has a webite with his own name ! http://www.melih.com

I'm not sure if this is funny or sad.

Both. And we'll be seeing more funny and sad posts to come.

This thread is specifically about the fact that Melih and Comodo moderators insist that HopSurf is completely different from the Ask Toolbar, built from "the ground up", yet in Comodo's own EULA they associate HopSurf toolbar with Ask toolbar.

I am sure that 3xist will be by soon to rectify the inconsistencies between his explanation and the EULA's statements, so there is no need to have "funny" or "sad" posts to come, and no need to mention any movie characters.

Poor guys. It,s better for them to make CFP paid and stop all this non-sense instead.

Yes sir haha. I hope you enjoyed "The Dark Knight" anyway.

Just out of curiosity, have you actually installed the HopSurf Toolbar yourself? And if so, is it because you really want to use it?

EDIT: to get 3xist's attention, it might be better to PM him or post at the Comodo forums. This thread could easily be missed by Comodo staff.

Nah, I'm pretty happy that they are making money in other ways and giving me great free security software as a by-product.

ssj100, you keep supporting a group like this
having mods that threaten folks with hacking their websites
and your crediablity goes down the drain with them..
really to bad..so sad

I have a problem with someone saying something with great conviction and then discovering information which is contradictory.
If Comodo was honest enough to admit there are deep connections between the Ask toolbar and the HopSurf toolbar, I would not have problem.

It is this feeling of someone trying to "pull a fast one" that makes me nervous, quite honestly.

Please keep this thread focused on the topic title, as there are members here who want to see threads like this get killed.

Anything about DV Certs should be in another thread, thanks.

Hi mate. Please clarify your statement of "having mods that threaten folks with hacking their websites". Thanks.

Also I'm not supporting any group. I'm using free security software that works for me.

As I've implied a lot before mate, if you want to get a clear answer, try posting on the Comodo forums or PM-ing 3xist.

There are just far too many haters of Comodo on Wilders to have a productive thread discussion on it. You'll find a lot of Comodo bashing and off-topic posts (like mine...sorry...). Personally, I find it all rather hilarious, and actually quite enjoy it. It's a great de-stressor.

A mod saying that in public at a security forum
is not cool at all and it just shows you how they roll
in jest or not

Don't worry; it seems that someone took my screenshot and asked the same question here at the Comodo forums:
http://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcommentsannouncementsnews_cis/why_is_hopsurf_selected_by_default-t42012.0.html;msg308913#msg308913

Surprise, surprise! No response yet from either Melih or the moderators!

I understand and apprieciate your opinion there.

But can you believe the references that are being made in this thread to make Comodo look as bad as possible?

Seriously, there should be a ban on discussing any Comodo products on Wilders haha. I mean, since so many people here think that they are untrustworthy etc, there should be a sticky at the top of each thread on Wilders about how evil Comodo is and how people should stay clear of it. That would save the trouble of these repetitive statements right?

But then I guess it would put Wilders mods' out of the job haha. Seriously though, what do you think Peter and other mods/administrators?

They are probably huddling together and trying to come up with some devious plan of defense haha.

I guess from an objective point of view, those moderators were out of line. They should be banned right haha.

You gave advice such as "If you don't like a TV show, don't watch it, if you don't like a radio station, don't listen to it...", etc.

Maybe you should take your own advice:
If you don't like a thread, don't read it!
