Default Vista hangs after reboot initiated by TI V10

I am running True Image V10 on a Vista Thinkpad. I am trying to recover my complete disk image from a backup created just 2 weeks ago. After I identify the source drive (an external USB HDD) and the target drive (the whole internal disk) TI begins its first of four steps by starting with a reboot. The machine does a shutdown and restart and the message appears that the Acronis Loader is loading, but then the screen goes blank and just hangs. The external HDD also turns off.

If I attempt to restore from a bootable CD, or the original Acronis TI CD, the same thing occurs.

Any ideas?

Has you performed previous successful disk restores?

Have you confirmed that this backup archive will validate?

Check to maker sure your build of version 10 Rescue CD is the latest according to your personal Acronis registration/download page.

Your restore should work--according to these steps.
1. Target installed internally in normal boot position.
2. Source backup archive located elsewhere.
3. Boot from the TrueImage Rescue CD made from the most current of the V10 releases.
4. Perform a Disk option restore (disk option checked). (see note below)
5. Upon completion. Reboot with no other drive attached.

Note: A partition restore only may not work with Vista and V10. Note line 3 of my signature below--the 2nd part. This why I am suggesting a disk option restore.

Hello stowheliman,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

Acronis True Image 10.0 Home is an outdated version of Acronis True Image. Please let me know via PM the serial number and an e-mail address for a further communication. I will send you an ISO file to create the latest version of Acronis Booting Rescue Media for Acronis True Image 10.0 Home.

Thank you.
