While trying to create an image of my hard drive on Vista basic 32bit with Acronis 8, I get the message "can not get exclusive access to hard disk drives - make sure windows computer management consol or other software that locks the hard disk drives, are not running."
How do I let it get access? I have closed everything including anti-spyware. |

Create the Image using the bootable True Image Rescue CD instead of from the installed software in Windows.

V8 is not compatible with Vista. V11 and later are. It won't run properly when installed on Vista, and quite likely Vista warned you of just that when you installed.
The advice above will work of the older V8 disk drivers can cope with your hardware. |

Hello all,
Thank you for your interest in Acronis True Image I can add that for the first time Vista compatibility was implemented for Acronis True Image 10.0 Home. Thank you. -- Oleg Lee
