Hello at all...
I am using TI 2009. I have a Dual Boot System with Vista on C:\ and XP on F:\. I made an image of my whole machine in my Vista envoronment. After I have had problems with my XP System, I decidced to restore this partition. After that I noticed that not one system file (like boot.ini...) was there. Also the backup archive does not include one of them. In my Vista partition there are all relevant system files included in my archive. I set TI to backup everything and only exclude *.bak, *.tmp and so on (the third check box in the exclusion window). So, I have to consider that TI only backup system files of the OS I am currently doing my backup. Is that correct? Or where could be the problem? That's really very very strange... Thanks for some help... |

Double check that your disk1 entry had all boxes ticked.

Yes, it is - the checkbox was and is marked for all partitions in the "root".

Are you using Microsoft's boot manager to dual-boot? If so, then all the booting files for both XP and Vista will be on the Active partition. This is usually the partition of the first OS installed. Are the XP booting files on the Vista partition?

Oh man, this is it Thanks a lot for those words... The files are indeed all on my Vista partition and none on my XP partition...THANKS A LOT! -> TI made everything correct and I was also able to recover my XP OS and get it to boot again. While I was reinstalling Vista, I deleted of course also the system files. Because of I haven't known that there were those OS files before I thought that they should be on my XP partition and mentioned that True Image made a mistake... but it didn't... Anyway. Thanks a lot for your post! |
