Default Insulated Vista multiboot (3x Vista)

Hi

My intention:
- I want 3 Partition with OS Vista Ultimate (Testing, Gaming, Working), all of them should be isolated to the others and the other Partions should not be seen in the Explorer in the booted OS.

The big Problem:

- On the web if found the really good guide how to it set up with XP Os. But as well in this guide it is expained, that acronis does mixing up the different partiton (bug). It is well explain how to correct that problem in the bootini and other files whitch are used with the XP-OS. But Vista have new boot files and with the XP guide i am not able to do it.

- Is there any detailed manuel how to set up an multible Boot with the Acrinos OS selector with Vista (64Bit)?

- is spent so many time tying to set up such a system, I am close to give it up and live with a single Partition......

Can somebody help me, or knows a detailed guidance to set a Vista insulated multiboot system up?

i would be very happy to get some help, unfortunatly Aronis does not have i detailed manuel how to do it.

Welcome to the fourm.

Are you using the latest build of DD 10 (2,160)?

In what you've tried so far, does OSS find at least one Vista installation and boot it properly?

Are all the Vista's going to be on the same hard drive?

Do you have TI or another imaging program?

Are you trying to do separate installs of each or image the first install and restore it to the other two partitions?

Also, if you could provide a short write-up of what you've tried, it might help in finding a solution.

PeterJCI,

assuming you have Acronis True Image (or a similar disk imaging program), you might find some useful information in the thread in my sig, and the references therein, including Fix Vista so a Repair is not needed after a restore or clone by MudCrab.

Yes, I'm familiar with BootIt and have used it. It a nice boot manager with a lot of options.

As with any boot manager, keep in mind that how the operating systems are installed and setup can create problems. Once you learn how to avoid these, it's easier with whichever boot manager you use.

If you need any more help with OSS, just post back.

Having only recently begun to multi-boot myself, I understand your frustration and eagerness to quickly set up a multi-boot and get it over with. But from my own newbie experience, I have learned that when it comes to this subject, studying it a bit in advance really pays off in the long run. This will enable you to correctly deal with topics such as editing the boot files correctly, correcting drive letter issues, partition table (re)ordering, etc. - all of which are discussed in the links I mentioned earlier, and are by no means ispecific to Acronis (OSS), but inherent to setting up a multi-boot correctly.
Once you know how to deal with them, configuring the boot manager may actually be the easiest part of the procedure ...
(on a sidenote, I don't use OSS myself either, I use the GAG Boot Manager, in combination with Disk Director and True Image)

I don't want to scare you, just underline the fact that there is more to multi-booting than just the configuration of a particular boot manager ...

Good luck !! (and have fun with it)

Peter,

If you have trouble with language, you may get some help from online translation services, for example from Google or Yahoo! Or you could install the very useful free dictionary software from Lingoes (sorry for giving you another set of links )

If you really get stuck on a particular word or sentence, you could post it here and someone might be able to explain or translate it for you.
