Default ATI Echo Workstation 9.5.8076 und ATI 11 Home

PROBLEM: ATI Workstation does not recognise the images of ATI 11 Home!!!!

Why does ATI Workstation recognise the images of all predecessor's versions of ATI Home?
Vice versa ATI 11 Home recognises, however, the images of ATI Workstation!
I`m confused about that very much.

TI 11 uses a different image structure to the Echo versions. The TI 11 one was changed to take account of some problems that home users had on their systems.

I imagine the thinking is, the Echo products are installed in the main on networked business machines and therefore wil tend to have a more basic set of software programs installed and, of course there is more likely to eb an IT guru to sort things out when they go wrong.

But why does ATI Workstation recognise then the images of ATI 10 Home?
And why does ATI 11 Home recognise the images of ATI Workstation?
I think that this is a bug in the ATI Workstation!!!

ATI 10 uses the same image format as Echo, in fact Echo uses the same format as the last 2 versions or so of TI 9 as does TI 10.

Because all new versions of TI are guaranteed to be back compatible to the immediately previous, TI 11 has to recognise TI 10 images and, because Echo uses the same format it just happens that 11 can work with those. However, TI 10 would not be able to read an image produced by TI 11, although I never purchased TI 10, I can state that TI 9 can't read TI 11.

So it isn't a bug but a design feature

This is even worse, because that is, nevertheless, nothing else that the newest ATI Workstation is, actually, an old hat.

Echo does recognize and correctly work with at least some TI 11 images. I know it has a problem with TI 11 (build 8,027) images, but it generally works okay with 8,053 images (at least it has in tests I've run).

An Acronis Support post can be found here.

Echo isn't really older. It's just a different program. Also, I think "plain" image backups work better for cross-version support than if you use any special features (TI 11 only features, for example).
