    HI Bob,
    quote
"Then you have to recognize a 19% advantage favoring the Dr. in the Retrospective/Proactive tests." end quote

Where did you get the idea I would even consider that? Especially if it doesn't suit my purpose right now??:D :D :D

Yes, I suppose if you take it into account it would offset to some extent the on-demand results. As I think about it, I wonder if heuristics do in fact catch a lot of malware in the "real world?"

I would not buy either of them as I personally would prefer Avast Home to either, and especially with the addition of a good AS application, such as SAS, AVG AS, or a-squared. The only ones that I can think of that I would buy are NOD, KAV, or F-Secure.

    Regards,
    Jerry

I didn't think that was correct, but I had to make sure. :) Of course with a 65% discount, sales might just go through the roof. ;) :D

as long as they protect the user, most AV's are good enough for an average user.

the dr. has never failed me yet, and i trust it fully to keep me protected, its great service, great support!!!!! and neat-package to use, i enjoy using the software and testing it against the world wide web.

2 very popular, dangerous worms that im sure most have heard of, its still surprises me that 'a couple' of these, are still undetected by some of the top tier AV's

i will continue to upload some varients to different AV vendors, whenever i can be bothered :D
and of course, will never judge an AV by some mistakes in detection, i go off the tried and tested and the one i like the most is Dr.Web :D

Are these samples from VXHeavens? o_O

The naming of the samples is suspiciously similar to a set that I have had, and Dr.Web had a somewhat low detection rate many months ago on that set. I sent all of them for analysis to the Virus Chaser support team, maybe they added these...

Interesting. As such, currently I'm using Virus Chaser, and it is doing a good job so far of protecting me. Just sent in a few samples for analysis some days ago. ;)

i hate VC firecat, i thought it would be like Dr.Web but its just not.

im sure some people will like it, but with me expecting it to be a dr.web clone, i was dissappointed.

and with dr.web for vista-beta being ready, so i was told to believe, i dont understand its delay, i honestly think its been delayed to be released for public-beta at CEBIT.

If your main issue with VC is the lack of heuristic analysis, it should be noted that this issue will be fixed soon. ;)

As regarding Dr.Web, I think they are trying to launch Vista 32 and 64-bit versions together, maybe thats why its been delayed.

BTW, did you see my Virus Chaser old version screenshots (the old version of VC was developed by Dr.Web, and it had version number 5.0...Hmm?)? :D

i dont think VC has anything to do with dr.web, other than using their av technology.

if dr.web,as you say are trying to release 64-bit along with 32-bit beta's, this would be good news as i would switch to 64-bit vista for sure.

I would definitely appreciate Dr.Web releasing 32 and 64-bit versions together. I got a message from the VC guys about 64-bit Windows XP support which leads me to believe that maybe Dr.Web is planning to release both versions together.

As regards VC, they do not have anything to do with Dr.Web now (apart from using Dr.Web engine of course, and also for technical co-operation of viruslabs), but it is fact that the first version of Virus Chaser was developed by Dr.Web team. I believe Blackcat confirmed this a few years ago.

i did notice the File system monitor file definatly as a new one through updates, and a couple others too.

nice to see Dr.Web updating a few things, even if it is in the beta.

    role on vista-beta. :D

    -----------
is it vista ready now, i aint too sure...... but the ENHANCED PROTECTION IS NOW WORKING ON VISTA!!!!!!
