I have been using NOD for almost two years and it has never, ever caught a phish. By this point it has to be batting about 0 for 2000.

 

The Q here is how good is NOD32's Phising detection compare to that of others like KAV. NOD32 may be a excellent AV but its Phising capabilites may not be as good as some others, but than again some others virus/trojan detection may not be as good as NODs.

 

I'm not complaining. I can protect myself from pfishing. What I can'tdo myself is that which NOD does best and what I pay it to do - anti virus work.

 

Well, I think NOD has good heuristic protection against pishing, but very few definitions.

those figures are still low compared to the sober numbers of just a month ago - so even though HTML/Phishing.gen trojan is 20k+ a day on virus radar, that's not THAT bad...

That, to me, is not "Phishing". That is a trojan. Phishing is fake emails or links to fake web sites masquerading as an authentic one.

True, but NOD32 classifies these e-mails as "trojans" anyway, probably because the end result is that data gets sent out (with a little bit of user help). They are not trojans in the sense of a program running in the background; I agree with you there.

 

Yes it is but, NOD is catching the trojan not the Phish. The Phish is the text and links in the body of the email. The trojan is an additional nasty but not all Phishes have trojans some, in fact most, are just text, links and HTML code. How would NOD catch one of those?

Pykko i must ask you : are you a amateur or what ? , sorry dude.
But nod32 actually add's more samples per day then many other antivirus, well here is the list of them all almost :
antivir, dr.web , bitdefender, windows livecare-antivirus, mcafee, Avg, Clam-av, Norman, etc , and there is much more of them, i have follow now for some weeks and i have seen and saved all names&numbers of viruses that have been added by those antiviruses and NOD32 add's much more then all of those, so i dont know why you say that nod32 adding very few defintions.
I got supprised about mcafee, dr.web and bitdefender, that nod32 add's much more then also those, but thats true! So we should not complain to nod32 that they are adding so few, its more then enough.
