I was wondering if there is anyway to change the order in which the start up applications start in windows XP after booting.

As for some reason the last to start up is always the two most important, Kaspersky AV5 and Outpost.

Before this i get system volume, gmail notifyer etc. Which are no where near as important to start soon than KAV is.

So is there a way i can change the order of start up apps. So it goes KAV>OutPost>Online Armor. Then the rest of the non essential apps.

    Thanks

Thanks, but with it being Christmas i really cant afford to buy a non essential app at the moment.

I have Tune Up utilities 2006. Is there a way i can do it with that.

Or is there a WinXP registry change i can do perhaps.

    Thanks

    Hi Anthony,

Some nice advice and info above from others !

Here's an App that's Free though that should do what you require. If you use it please post back with your findings.

Other interesting stuff available on the site too.

    . . .

StartRight will manage the execution of programs that are automatically started by the operating system at logon time. Instead of executing many programs at once (causing your OS to spit and sputter and attack your hard drive), StartRight will give the OS time to execute the program before running the next program. The OS should become much more responsive almost imediately after logon.

Those of you that have a dozen system tray programs (and you know who you are), might want to give this a try.

    Features:
    - program executing ordering
    - custom delays
    - Auto-Tune delays based on CPU usage (optional)
    - new item notification (optional)
    - automatically disable all new programs (optional)
    - pause or stop program execution (optional)

    Requirements

    A Windows OS

    StartRight v1.2.9 ZIP [300 KB]

:) I have my system set to open files in separate windows, running joejoe conflicted with that and rendered restore unusable on my machine, thus I would caution individuals before changing things. I of course uninstalled joejoe. I have also noticed that my system boots up faster since I checked the open files in separate windows option, you may want to try that before taking any further drastic action.

    Thanks
