Having trouble with java and can't go on certain websites

Can you try uninstalling Java, and reinstalling a FRESH copy from http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp

I don't know if this will help you guys out any or not, but I found this link http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=193701 and I did what it says but when I got to

Register the DLL files that are associated with the Windows Update Web site and clear the browser's cache and history.a.
Click Start, and then click Run.
b. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system\vbscript.dll
c. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system\mshtml.dll

and when I put those in the run box I got a message saying " failed- the specified module could not be found"

When I click that link it it says my security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded. and when I go to tools > internet options > security, and try to lower the bar it won't let me. It says "the recommended security level for this zone is "medium. the level that you have chosen is lower than this. please choose a security level of "medium" or higher" so is there another way I can do it?

Thanks. I uninstalled it and turned off my popup blocker and everything is fine now. so thanks you guys.

on message boards the smilies that are animated don't move. They're like frozen. I had this problem before but I can't remember how I fixed it. I even made a thread on CastleCops but the guy that was trying to help me just gave up on it and never told me what to do. And eventually I did something and fixed it. http://computercops.biz/postt64398.html

Just I have that problem with the smilies, and that was fine up until Java started acting up. But now since it's fine, I don't know why they aren't working.

Any tips on how I can prevent this from happening again? I have an anti-virus software and I have both Ad-aware and Spybot that are ran every day. I also have a firewall(it's the windows firewall)

And any idea on how to fix the problem with the smilies?

The above will give you a very tight system. Ultimately it comes down to safe practices, and it is always best to practice and think of safety, otherwise it will remind you and it won’t hold back in doing so... it's a bit like gravity, very unforgiving...
