Thanks for the reply. My parents laptop (which was a hand me down) recently died. Thought this may be a decent and cheap replacement as all they do is surf anyway. Plus there is no need for an AV.

    Contingency plan
NAS for unattended contineous data backup, Router with SPI firewall, USB drive attached to Router via SharePort for monthly data snapshot (using synctoy) and image backups (using Windows 7 ultimate 32 bits). HitmanPro Scan before monthly snapshot.

Threatgates: Extra precautions on most likely entry points of malware intrusion/infection.
    Network filtering
Windows 7 Internal firewall also blocks outbound traffic, Chrome and Outlook allowed specified ports and protocol.

    Process mitigation
Memory exploit mitigation (DEP, SEHOP, ASLR) and EMET process mitigation on browser (Chrome), email (Outlook), media player (Classic Media Player) and PDF reader (Foxit).

    Drive By mitigation
Added deny "Traverse folder/execute file" for everyone on public, download and e-mail folders through ACL. Deny execute access (and autorun) of USB-devices through GPO

Execution Containment : System wide policies based on user rights and process signing/integrity level.
    Low rights application container
Chrome's sandbox click to play flash plug-in, safe browsing, javascript allow for HTTPS\\* and .COM & .NL domains, extension whitelist and all settings locked with GPO. Forced incognito mode with no-referrer and startpage search.

    User space protection
Software restriction policy with explicit "disallowed" rules for data partition (default security level set to basic user, rules for all files and all users except administrators). Hardened shell, autostarts and running scripts through GPO.

    Admin space protection
UAC set to full and deny elevation (from basic user to admin) of unsigned programs. Chrome by design can't elevate to High IL, Outlook and Foxit have mandatory Medium IL through ICACLS, Classic Media Player is unsigned.

Yes, disappointed on not getting SRP and Applocker work together, I used an AppGuard lisence I got from Eirik.

Yep, but it feels as defeat spending 0.25% of CPU on security of third party providers while the OS offers so much. My low end dual core (E5200) slows down when adding dll protection to AppLocker, so using the third party alternative AppGuard. To my standards I also cheat using paid software (allthough I got the lisence for free, still).

Greetings Earthlings! Have been trying the new MBAM 1.7 turned on and on-demand, and don't see much difference in impact, so I'm going to keep it turned on along with WSA. Thanks for all the fish...justenough.

After a few months of experiments I am going back to Emsisoft apps.
Seems like the best solution for me.

Let's make it easier for you:

Austria = 1955's classic movie Sissi (Romy Schneider) or more recent Amadeus movie (about some music composer living in Vienna). The "I'll be back" Arnold Scharzenegger was born in Austria (body builder - moviestar - governor of California).

Australia = classic road movie Mad Max or more recent Crocidile Dundee, maybe you know Foster's beer also from Australia.
