Well keep in mind I run http obfuscation software that browses and searches automatically for me when I am not, so my real activity is obscured by hundreds of thousands of random ones. So yes, that contributes GREATLY to those ridiculous numbers. Nevertheless, still awesome numbers!

I just bought a license using the discount ads are being blocked in Firefox but if I load a page that uses the IETAB (which essentially loads the page in IE) I see the ads, see the image below

    what gives?

My guess would be firefox is launching IE as an admin.

Ad Muncher runs as a restricted user by default, launch Ad Muncher with administrator privileges and try again.

I may buy this if I ever see support to HTTPS actually implemented instead of the old empty promises. Hopefully, on the next holidays' offer?

I have a question to JeffreyCole: what sources are behind Ad Muncher's advert list (or lists?) and its frequent updates?

If you can't answer, I will understand. If you can only answer by PM - please send me a PM with the answer.

    Thanks!

I assure you SSL filtering is NOT an empty promise. We've been actively working on it recently and it's coming along nicely.

As for the filter list, I'm the source of the filter list updates.

What else did you mean by source?

nope, I just launched Ad Muncher as admin and relaunched firefox and went to that page. The ads are there. My account is an Administrator account as I have enabled the administrator account since day one of installing Windows

when I used to use MVPS Hosts file before I had Ad Muncher on, I never saw those ads, but now that I have reverted back to the default hosts file and relied only on Ad Muncher, IE ads are eveywhere

I basically bought it to have IE blocking as I was doing just fine with AdBlock Plus for firefox

I just sent a request through the support form requesting for a refund. Hope it gets processed quickly

First off we do offer a 30 day money back guarantee so no need to worry.

second, give me a chance to get this working. :)

    I bet I can..

Do you have a link for IEtab?

I will look into this right now.

You realize issuing a refund costs us money?

So you cost us some money without letting me even fix it?

that's what support is for you know...

    Interesting.

I'm just curious (and a bit skeptic, to be honest) about Ad Muncher's advert list(s).

That's because the good (most effective) advert lists that I know tend to be a product of community work (Fanboy Official Forum and EasyList Official Forum).

I took over the default list releases officially in December 2004.

before that I had worked on it internally for 2 years.

So the Ad Muncher filter list has 11 years of development behind it.

Much longer than other competing products have even existed.

I am the sole maintainer of the list. I eat sleep and breathe it.

This is my full time job, not a hobby or side job.

Other filter lists would not work well with Ad Muncher because of all of the filtering categories we have that other products do not.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Ad Muncher filter list is the most complete and effective filter list available anywhere, and with my continued work it will stay that way.

I so thoroughly enjoy my job I'd do it for free if I had to.

Users report missing ads and I surf 1000+ sites per day.

that's where I find sites that need fixing or ad clean up.

    Done.

IEtab is now filtered for the next filter list update.

You can enable filtering without the update by adding this entry to your Filter Targets tab.

    +plugin-container:*

IEtab is fully and completely ad free now.

May I ignore your refund request? :)

    Uhh, I just checked the page with only admuncher running, and it is scrubbed 100% clean of every advert. Take a look;
    http://www.anony.ws/i/2013/01/02/KcFjB.jpg

Seems a bit harsh to demand a refund at the same time you request support, doesn't it? Nevertheless, I don't run firefox, I find it buggy, bloated, and slow. But I assure you Admuncher scrubs those pages in IE proper, and every other browser including IE shell browsers (avant/slim/Maxthon, etc). So no idea what is up with IE-Tab but I bet Jeff figures it out.

LOL he answered it by the time I typed my reply.

So what happened was, IETab was running contained within a plugin, not as a browser capsule itself. Which is probably why Admuncher didn't filter it, because it doesn't filter plugins. At least until now. :D How's that for support, eh? Exactly why I purchased it.

Note: I removed all other ad-blocker, host file, and other stuff since getting Admuncher, and my system has been quite a lot better to use now. It really is the total solution.

Understood. I respect your work and dedication. It's also nice to know that users report missing ads, so there is a community work as well after all.

I won't question that yours is the most effective advert list (excluding HTTPS ads at the moment) then. When support to HTTPS is implemented, I'll test your product for some days and see with my eyes (if you continue to provide a trial version, of course).

However, pardon me for the somewhat personal question, but it's still highly relevant to the matter: I can't help but ask, what happens if you gets sick for some days? Are there people that can continue your work on the advert list(s) under such circumstances?

Because new ads are created and old ads are rehosted in new domains somewhat frequently.

Of course. which is why I release 1 or 2 filter lists updates every day.

No one knows better than I the speed with which ad companies can change their domains. ;p

I've been doing this for 8+ years and even when sick manage to get 30+ updates out per month so it's never really been an issue and I don't see it being one in the future.

basic users are always a week behind on updates anyway.

premium users would get a beta turned final filter list update if I release a new list or not. so even being sick, unless it was longer than 2-3 days, no one would even know.

The coupon was for Christmas so it's unlikely.

With that being said there's the standard 10% off coupon you can get from our facebook page.

    www.facebook.com/AdMuncher

for those who don't like facebook, create a throw away facebook account. :)
