    @elapsed @Noob -
    I could not agree with you more that iTunes is the definition of software bloat.
    Though, those using most Apple devices that are dependent on iTunes, I have spelled-out the installed items and Windows Services, here. What more can one say or do if one is required to run this software. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    There are no substitutes to Tunes, although others in this thread would have you believe otherwise.

    There are no side-by-side comparisons, therefore I and no one should make the leap :ouch: You are plugging something that most should not use without comparative information, first.

    No significant changes to services or MSCONFIG as remarked previously :thumb:

    What i use?
    MPC-HC and Windows Media Player that comes with Windows.
    It's more than enough for me. :D
    I used to be a JetAudio user but i was having some performance issues when playing high bitrate videos on my laptop . . . so i switched to MPC-HC and the problem is gone.
    I still miss JetAudio features though, you had a full EQ, BBE enhancements, video converter, audio converter and much more. I may go back if they fix the performance issues.
    Less software installed = better.

    I tried itunes 11 on Win8 x64. I already had bonjour running with Plex, so whatever. Itunes had crazy processes running in the background and it had to 'convert' 2gb of flac music into something it could read. Wound up system restoring before it and put on Music Bee. Now happy.

    This. Besides, you can uninstall it quite easily and it won't affect anything if you just need basic sync and playback features.

    Quicktime hasn't been installed with iTunes for over a year at least.
