The board I cited here is for new users as well. It is not only for developers.

Yes, also excellent forums especially if you want to get into the more technical aspects of Android.

You can also go to Rootzwiki and the Android Forums as well.

Ah, Jelly Bean - I'd be happy if Verizon would just upgrade my phone to ICS...

It was only released on July 9. My mobile carrier was conservative with these releases until lately.

You could contact Verizon directly or your phone vendor as I'm Canadian and cannot comment on the US market as far a phones go... Or register and post your query to the cited support board.

The only thing i don't like about XDA is that there are lots of guys with "elitist" attitude.

I've been in the Android Forums, in fact i used to visit the Android Forums more than XDA . . . Until i got geeky and started modding my phone. (Flashing, trying custom roms etc)
Currently i only visit XDA since people there are more technical and have great tutorials, but Android forums are definitely more friendly. :thumb: :D

Verizon has rolled out ICS 4.1.1 for the Galaxy Nexus, perhaps you should check back with your carrier.

Thanks, trust me I'm on top of it. There is no sign of ICS coming for the Droid Incredible 2. It was promised so it might still happen, but it' almost irrelevant now with the next wave of phones being released.

4.1.x is Jelly Bean. 4.0.x is Ice Cream Sandwich.

Why doesn't Wilders have a dedicated smartphone forum?

I looked into this yesterday. But, after going through pages and pages of subforum thread listings, I wasn't even able to find a dozen threads about smartphones. If I go back thru 2008, it almost reaches 1 forum page (< 25) threads. It's just not any kind of serious volume here. If we do something here, we'd kind of like to do it well. There are so many better forums out there for talking about smartphones - like those listed above - so, it makes little sense to try to do that here.

I agree with your reasoning, however, the reason why there is no smartphone discussions here is probably because there is no dedicated smartphone forum or a sub-forum here at Wilders. Someone with a question most likely might not know under which forum to post it here.

Smartphones are future and soon more and more people will have one. It makes sense, well at least to me, to have a dedicated forum for them.

I agree there are other dedicated forums out there, but that does not mean Wilders should not have one.

Or, perhaps it is because smartphones aren't really all that complicated and, as other devices like personal computers and tablets do, boils down to hardware and software, which both have forums here. It's just my opinion, but I believe just about anything you could ask regarding smartphones would fit just fine in the software, hardware and even the privacy forums. Also, besides apps, there's really not a lot to cover with smartphones. It isn't like you can change out hardware and tweak things to the extent you can a PC.
