One would assume that the "renderer process" is the tab that is rendering the plugin. So that specific tab's process.

Anyway back on topic. I believe firefox will continue to bleed users as long as they continue to alienate users with thoughts of "disabling java" and "removing the address bar". It seems the IE and Chrome teams are concentrating on features, but at the same time improving security, whilst firefox is only concentrating on features. Another great move by the IE team will be making IE10x64 the default for Windows 8, which is obviously even more secure, and pushes 64bit browsing as a whole.

It's hard to see Mozilla going back to a slower release cycle, given the incentive of free cupcakes from Microsoft. :isay:

I'm still staying with Firefox, until Chrome stops dumbifying its settings. Looks like everyone forgot about:config, userChrome.css, custom installation, etc.

This might have a benefit, making malware authors' attention shifted to Chrome.

They are implementing another slower release cycle solely for enterprise. I'm not sure they can please both sides.

I doubt it. If they target any browser Firefox is the easiest and still holds more members than Chrome. And the fact that so many Firefox members are on old versions does not help them.

Chances are they'll just shift to attacking Java, which is easy and cross browser/platform.

Easiest besides Opera. Opera's just not worth targeting since no one uses it.

But do I really need to explain how Firefox is the easiest? And not just firefox, really firefox users in general, since using firefox will often mean you're using flash as well.

fsr, if you are willing, would you be so kind as to explain in a little more detail this business about bookmarklets and how to run them, preferably in a new thread? I don't think we have a thread on bookmarklets.

I have just one bookmarklet but I have it as a link on a local html page like this:
    Code:
    <a href="**********:void(window.open('http://config.privoxy.org/toggle?mini=y&set=toggle','ijbstatus','width=450,height=100,resizable=yes,scrollbars=no,toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,copyhistory=no').focus());">Toggle</a>

When I want to run it, I click on the "Toggle" link. This works for me in Fx and in Chrome.

(I've replaced the word javascript with stars to avoid any forum issues.)

Because Safari on Lion seems fairly secure but I haven't had a look. Anyways it's nowhere as near popular as Firefox or Chrome, its growth is mainly due to ipads etc.

Sources for its security? I think it's pretty close, and targeting mobile users is definitely worthwhile.

Attacks on Safari for Windows or iOS would be different than OSX I would assume. Certainly for windows, probably for iOS and OSX.

The new Webkit v2.0 (in Lion) uses a similar security method as Chrome.

IE9 is installed in computers running Windows at the factory. That's how it gets 22%. FF and Chrome must be voluntarily chosen by the consumer. :isay:

No, it's IE 8. IE 9 is on Windows Update.

Odd that so many people say that and then they hate when OSX is successful in the market.

This is a measurement of usage not installation. Blind IE haters... :(

The IE9 update is offered for users that have the Automatic Updates enabled: they have to explicitly choose if they want it or not.

    Exactly!!

To be honest i really though Chrome had a lot more market share than Firefox but it's pretty much the same. What i do know is that lots of people who are used to Firefox they usually just keep using it (They're used to it) :)

Seems like they are trying to put a good spin on bad news !

Looking at the same source, Netapps, though IE9 share of Win7 have gone up, overall IE shares have dropped yet another month, which simply means more people are moving from older versions of IE to other browsers than moving to IE9.

    Cheers, Nick
