Is that official, or just an opinion based on quite some time of evidence showing there won't be?

So then DW will end up being one of those nostalgic memories of days gone by. Sitting around and waiting for Patch Guard to go away isn't going to get you anywhere. It's here, it's staying, and ignoring that will simply harm vendors and their customers. I mean no disrespect Ilya, I completely understand why he feels that way, he means well. But, the situation is not going to change, malware writers will continue to poke at 64 bit systems, and users are going to need all the help they can get. To just sit idly by and not even try is rather irresponsible in my mind.

There's the Experimental setting in Sandboxie for 64bit.

Yes, I know. But it doesn't bring 64bit up to 32bit even with the experimental protection.

I could be mistaken, but I thought it was about the same, given the built-in advantage of 64bit.

http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?ExperimentalProtection It's about as close as it'll probably get. With this turned on and DropRights, I don't see it being a big issue. Is it perfect? No, but nothing will perfect it. SBIE at least has made the attempt.

I don't think Ilya wants a 64 bit product made and then have to tell everyone its "almost as good" or "just as good".
The developers of Sandboxie and DefenseWall have different views on their programs working with 64 bit operating systems, I guess we should just respect that and leave it as is. If Iyla does come around and decide on a 64 bit version than great, I was using DW for 2 years but moved on to a 64 bit OS so I had to move on and choose other forms of protection.

I asked about that before and it's not true. I'm sure if DW had a 64-bit version coming out this month we would have heard about it :D

My 2 cents is that a 64-bit DW with a bit less protection that 32-bit would be okay, because it shouldn't and probably wouldn't be people's only line of defense. Most people would also use an antivirus and/or on-demand scanners to supplement it.

"A bit less" means "no protection at all". Placebo edition is not in my plans 100%.

Uh, your product does not offer 100% protection. By your logic it offers no protection at all.

If a software existed that blocked all exploits but no socially engineered malware, is that software not protecting the user at all?

Of course, exploits will always exist so technically no program is protecting the user at all.

I'm sorry, but I was never telling about "100% protection". I was telling about "a less bit" protection. Do you feel the difference? I do.
