I had heard of wajig a long time ago and installed it a couple of months ago but had no time to test it - and forgot about it

But now I've detected it anew - and I really like it! wajig combines such Debian/Ubuntu tools like apt-get, apt-cache and dpkg under one hood which simplifies package management on the console a lot. You can even start a simple GUI by entering gjig.

A short overview of the wajig commands can be found here. A detailed "Desktop Survival Guide" is available here. In Ubuntu the package is available in the universe repo.

Try it - I'm sure you'l like it, too.

EDIT: The remarks regarding sudo don't apply for Ubuntu.
