and SO not working, not with the usual trick of resizing the opera window... speaking of browser support and SO. latter still a no show on FF beta 4. and still displaying erratic SO button behaviour on Iron have been reading about Prevx 4 and how great it will be the truth is that SO does not keep pace with today's current browser development... ...being aware that two beta were mentioned please spare comments about it
Oprea 10.70 is still in the Beta stage: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1735492&postcount=209 and I did read the end of your post but the facts are the facts! TH
no support for FF 4, Opera 10.7 and erratic behaviour on Iron. From reading on the forums it does not seem to be play nicely with Chrome either. no surprise your reply
They are all in the Beta stage and many changes can happen before the final! So what's so hard to understand? Your Question has been answered! Regards, TH
whatever you want to believe. what was the question I asked? keep the thread open and will see about the date when the browsers are released and will see then. oh, no then there is time needed to start developing for those browsers, right totally forgot about that. neither Opera 7 nor FF 4 are in premature states. Iron 5 is final and so is Chrome 5. but those are niche browsers and thus not supported, neither is Safari 5. Leaves good but outdated IE8 - cool!
You cannot expect any software developer to keep up with the weekly and daily BETA releases that are available. If anyone is prompt to improve support for the popular browsers then it's certainly Joe and the crew at Prevx, they are matchless in their efforts imo. For info FF4b4 has SafeOnline tab working pretty good for me except that it's a bit "shaky" and sometimes you have to click on a blank space on bar to "refresh" it, and drag it to its most stable and preferred location before reclosing. Don't know about Opera10.70 (don't use it) but, after all...it's just been released, give them a chance to provide support, and in the meantime use a browser that you're happy with(there's enough to choose from) that's works well with Prevx.
When we were developing the initial releases of SafeOnline, quite a few browsers had beta versions out which we added support for. However, each of them made major changes before the final release, essentially causing us to waste dozens of hours of development time adding support. Therefore, we now have a policy to add support only when a browser is on the verge of going live with a final release or shortly after it has actually been released - there is just far too much variation between browser updates and unfortunately it is not economical to try to keep up with every minor beta development build.
Thanks Joe for your (as always) clear and easy to understand response. Seems to me that nowadays a lot of people seem to expect so much, and old-fashioned(supposedly) patience seems to be in short supply. Thanks, Dermot.
Iron and Chrome are supported (although Iron support is non-official just because it is not popular and not thoroughly developed of an integration on our end) but Safari is currently not popular enough as well for an integration on our end. However, we are still considering Safari and other minor browsers, but we have more technically relevant things which are of higher priority at the moment
Sorry to bring an old thread back alive. What about Release Candidates? Is there a policy of not officialy supporting those as well?
Yes! https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1736712&postcount=7 Hopefully that will change in v4 as we the users don't know what's coming and how v4 will handle Browsers! TH
