The pro version has automatic updates and automatic scanning (scanning when computer is idle).
The free version is free only for personal use.
    I'm pretty sure thats right..

No. The Pro version isn't free.
    That's likely a typo.

You will have to go to IObit's website to download the newest version? Is it possible to do an over the top install? Hopefully, we will have some official tests with this program.

It should update from the RC manually.

Who needs $25,000? I sure know I do! So IObit is hosting a nice big 'competition'. See here for details.

    To sum it up:

Note: An MD5 list of samples, as well as a log file from the scans are required!

is there really any big difference from pro to free on this? how is the detection on virus spyware and rootkits?

Hello. The difference between free and pro is very minimal. The free version lacks automatic updates, automatic scanning and commercial support. However, it does include real-time protection and heuristics.

I posted a comparison above if you wish to look at.

    Not bad for Security 360.
The main thing I take from that test is that some antimalware scanners detect more than others, but that even the better performers missed quite a few samples.

Advertising  Really what they mean by that is heuristics and all those tools in the free version.

However, I can tell you that there are more features planned for the Pro version (coming sometime the end of this year). Such as an antikeylogger, website scanner and improved HIPS. That will be the enhanced malware detection and exclusive tools.

That has been the objective of a comparative test for quite a while :p There needs to be a lot of improvement in the anti-spyware side of things (for all vendors). The problem is the number of new malware popping up each day. It becomes a bit mind boggling o_O

so when the new feature you spoke of for the pro will the free ver. just suffer and no new features added to it? so it will stay as is?

The free version will be updated constantly too, however, new features such as the antikeylogger will be added to the Pro version.

As far as I know, the web scanner and improved HIPS will be in the free version though.

because if you make the free version look good to people most will buy the pro. at least that is the case with avast antivirus

The free version can't have everything...Then there is no need for a pro version, and then the researchers, programmers and the company cannot earn money.

The Auto Updates alone should serve as incentive to upgrade to the Pro version. The mild lag caused when Security 360 looks for manual updates at start-up could be eliminated. That's in addition to supporting IObit and the program.

Why is the service is360srv.exe running even though I have the program set up as an on-demand scanner? This is the reason I ditched A-squared free.
