Re: Can We Please Put the "Multiple Pass" Wiping Paranoia to Rest?

R-Wipe was able to erase the websites that I had listed. I think it also get's rid of mru trace. At least it says that it does. But I have no idea about hidden folders or alternate data streams. Thanks for mentioning. I will do a search and see what I can come up with.

ntfs has semi journalling features like thumbnail caching of everything you've browsed, metadata like date and time stamps, alternate data streams etc. Page files are also searched on by forensic softwares, I guess it can be done remotely also. this semi journalling features termed as security features ,which i guess is from a network admin point of view, is the one making ntfs sluggish compared to fat32. rootkits would like to hide in this alternate data streams.
to add more education or rather paranoia, you can glance on these...

Love this tidbit at the bottom of the second article (which dates *from 2004*):

    >>
Your media is highly censored. God its like Russia, only people don't know.

You have been under military rule since the 60's. Democracy is a joke, its a hollywood show.

    go abovetopsecret . com

The Nazi's are in contorl of your government and media.

Propaganda using GRU tactics of dis-information. Google is creating internal and external points of views for countries, and censoring information.

The world thinks America has lost the plot!

Oh, brother... now he tells me. (rolls eyes)

It makes sense that if I thought Windows were a giant bugging tool that I would want to make an image of it before I dismantled it. (Not...)

    Ha ha!
Actually, I followed some and wrong moves will give you loss of some functionalities and some bsods. And naturally, my child, you have to make your back ups. Got it!
I rather stick with an operating system, I know more about to secure it and to harden it than to relearn another one.
And guess what, finally after lots of tweakings, windows is no longer a bugging device. ha ha
Well, the purpose is to educate actually. But not for the faint of heart, I may say if you actually implement those.
But, the rewards is great... Knowledge and having a stable, speedy and secure system that I can call it my own.
Now, my next project is to make it portable... http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?&showtopic=21445
