Remove leftover services?

I uninstalled many programs to free up some memory for KIS but i used the software manager on jv16 which deleted the programs files and registry but left its service entries. Is there any program that will remove invalid services automatically or must i do it manually? .

 

In general the programs don't delete this kind of leftovers - it's so because it's needed System permissions to do that usually (not only Administrator permission). And because it's a safety to the Windows.

This is a reason why using registry cleaners like RegSeeker a blue screen can comes out... forever...

It's better to uninstall through device manager > view, show hidden devices > see plug and play and here uninstall the devices that aren't working correctly only.

 

Instead of digging through the registry you could try to use cmd in admin mode to delete any services by typing in...

" sc delete ALG " - no quotes, is a sample to delete the Application Layer Gateway Service.

 

I would do it manually, even if it takes some time. I personally have never quite trusted the reg cleaners and similar apps. More often than not, they want to remove something they shouldn't, or if not, then they need you to tell them what to do anyway.

 

If you insist on removing them go to Admin Tools-Services.
Click Properties against the service to be deleted-this will show the registry location.
Then do it manually.

 

You'll find most of them, if not all, in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Obviously, use caution, or back up the registry first just in case....

Says they're for XP and down but seemed to work OK on Vista.May come in handy for a bit of extra thinning.
