DefenseWall and ProSecurity

Hello,

My brother has already DefenseWall installed on his computer and now He wants to add ProSecurity because he sees the good results of nicM test last week.

I told him this is probably overkill. Any other opinion?

Having all the best apps. is not always what is best for the pc. Having what works best on the pc makes it the best. Unless your bro is a high-risk surfer, he probably won't run into all the "nasties" used in the testing

On the other hand, it would all depend upon what other real-time resident security apps. that your brother is running alongside DefenseWall. Another factor to consider is whether he prefers or is interested in a set-up that is quiet and unobtrusive or one that requires more user interaction. FYI, after two years of experimenting with various security programs, I have personally found that the former offers more-or-less the same protection as the latter set-up. I am a staunch believer of layered security, but make it a point to limit the number of my real-time resident security arsenal to just three or four. Lastly, interestingly enough, I have personally found that running five or more apps. simultaneously does not necessarily result in an increase in protection. Hope this helps.

If I could buy Defensewll over the counter at my local PC store it would be on my machine along with Sandboxie, Returnil and those MS virtual machines.

Ilya, that's exactly what I told my brother.

 

I predict on average the sandboxes will do better.

 

Visa has insurance for those types of things you know.
