Greets Forum Members & Staff. Apologize for such the extended absence and contributing. As of back in March 1 my wireless ISP turned over my region to a NEW regional ISP so my internet went Off The Grid since then. I AM happy to announce that the new ISP is almost complete in running extra high velocity FIBER! The underground substations are dug and fitted now. There only remains routing fiber to my particular address and their crew is been making measurements where and how to outfit. This is totally new to me than previous wireless hi speed so as you might guess I'm anxious to be back in service within approximately another month, perhaps sooner. When I do I have tons to catch up on. But my guess is if FIBER is greatly quicker than I been use to, it will be a milestone on this end. Miss the forum badly but should be back online before long. Regards EASTER

@EASTER, sorry to hear about your predicament. I am surprised that your ISP completely cut you off the internet! Internet is almost a basic necessity nowadays! Its like disconnecting electricity to a person for a few months!

Anyways, take your time, the forum will still be here.

You know, I was missing on this forum for six years! 2015-2021 (see the attached activity history screenshot). I don't think anybody even noticed! ;)

These Fiber splice and install contractors been working in extreme downpours out here midsouth. We have had continuous nonstop daily rains with only 3 days sunshine so far. So my hats off to their efforts. Getting pretty excited about the prospect of this ultra fast technology finally reaching here. In the meantime it's afforded me a lot of long overdue maintenance and upkeep on all the systems that have sit idle for a few years. That in and of itself is been sorely passed over much too long. Also is allowed for making new backups and especially testing a backup solution most won't even bother with but I found to my liking now along with the hi flyers. @Active Disk Image. Thoroughly tested it's imaging but moreover have found it's restore (maybe not lightning speed) BUT absolutely reliable.

Almost Back to be accurate. Accessing the forum via teeny tiny print is grueling. But brought myself to bring things to light. No way in the Galaxy I could ever depend on a hand held set if it was the only source. Ugh

Thanks. Holding tight waiting since March but the installation crews have stepped up digging front and rear access tubes to run Fiber Lines hopefully and be in service with any luck before the end of this new month. Grueling wait but should be worth it.

Best of luck Easter. Yes it's a strange feeling when we are used to internet access and then it is unavailable .
I am considering Fiber to the home (FTTH), also called fiber to the premises (FTTP)
My neighbour had FTTP fitted and it seems to take about an hour in my area but the area is already 'fiber ready'
I am fairly happy with my existing wired connection and I am not a gamer but in my country they are removing our home telephone and lines soon and I prefer a wired connection
In my lifetime we have moved from hardly anyone having a telephone, or even a car, to this new world of instant connection, which we have all, come to rely on.
I still nurture a face to face reality in my life, as addiction to internet, can, leave us with 'withdrawals' if we rely on it solely.
On occasion when my Internet is lost I do, though, feel a short period of 'shock'.
I hope that you get 'up and running' soon.

    Hi Patrick. And Greets.

It's extremely to near impossible for me to type OR read teeny tiny letters/words with a mobile handset. Hence very sparse communication into Wilder's.

On response to Fiber, I had reasonably good to great service with Wireless Hi-Speed from a rural water tower so this Fiber installation scenario reminds me of going in reverse when cable TV use to string high lines then to your home. Observing the work crew contractors from splicers to hook in, literally are doing the exact thing from electric pole to pole then digging underground relay stations near feeder distributions. From there it WIRES to location (building, house or apt).

I assume the extra speed will result from the fiber tech but basically a throwback to direct wiring again. But whatever. Been off the grid (phone notwithstanding) since March.

In the interim however I finally been able to fine tune on the order of over 1 dozen separate Windows 8.1 Systems to picture perfect working order. Complete with customization (some Windows 7) Microsoft wouldn't dare punish themselves with adding.
