Just performed a partition restore from a full disk backup from the other night, May 8th. Chose the full disk/partition backup image, only needed to restore the OS - C partition. Chose "Partition Mode" button, chose partition C, proceeded and restore to original location was already checked, I checked "Delta Restore", proceed, all from within widows. System restarted into the Hasleo winpe.iso disk image file, finished the C partition delta restore, I clicked finish and system was back at the desktop. Restore took about 2 minutes, back to desktop in about 8 seconds. That is the first time I actually did a partition restore from a complete disk image, I usually just restore entire disk, no need to at this time. Hasleo is a firm contender, feature rich and for me, a pleasure to use. I updated to version 4.5 May 1st. Excellent so far. Well done Hasleo.
There are significantly more changes than in the official post, my suggestions alone realized 7 pieces. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/hasleo-backup-suite.449122/page-40#post-3190312 https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/hasleo-backup-suite.449122/page-40#post-3191457 v4.5 turned out to be very successful, so the official forum is completely quiet.
Thanks @Hadron Version 4.5.1 is said to fix an issue that could cause backups to fail. Not sure if it is perhaps during a scheduled backup or when it may happen? They didn't go into detail. I do manual backups only, but probably will not update at this time, as 4.5 original release is working well for my needs, I updated to 4.5 May 1st. https://www.easyuefi.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=846&pid=5708#pid5708
I can't say exactly what the "backup fail" issue really is but I believe it is a very rare edge case at best. When these releases/updates occur (BETA or formal release), I beat them up pretty heavily both in MANUAL and SCHEDULED modes using all kinds of strange operations ... so far things are still very stable, even at v4.5.1.
Thanks so much @TheRollbackFrog for your thoughts and your help. Always appreciated sir. Agreed, stability has been excellent. My brain is trying to picture you beating these builds up...I can only imagine!
Please forgive my ignorance, but can I download the newest version of Hasleo and install it over top of my current installation? I don't want to lose my current settings. The reason I ask, is that for some reason, I cannot get the internal updater in Hasleo to work: Or, should I uninstall the older version first before installing the newer version?
For what it is worth when i am saying it, since Maestro, a.k.a Froggie, is not around, it is done automaticly so no need to uninstall. Your problem is something else. So just download and install. I just did.
Hi @Alexhousek I'd say It appears to have been possibly a problem with perhaps their website connection to download the update, the reason for the error, "Unable to access version data." I manually check fro updates, then click ok and it first uninstalls the older version then installs the updated version. At least that is how it has worked for me.
This is possible, the settings and integration will be saved. When uninstalling, the settings are not deleted, and will be picked up during the next installation. But the boot menu integration is removed, <ID>.WIM is removed.
Well... I'm back from "The Canaries" but I love it when you guys jump in and fill the gap, let's me catch up on my sleep It's nice to see so many users taking advantage of this product.
How do you extract specific data out of an image of HBS? Froggie has mentioned, above, a File explorer option, anyone knows how that works?
Can`t get it to work. Says i have to assign a drive letter to the volume, a volume that already have a letter. Besides, i can not see a way to assign any in HBS. What about the "other" way, how is it done?
@pb1 - when you select your volume to mount... if it's the same drive letter as you already have mounted in your LIVE System it will say "Double click to change" in the drive letter column of that device. If you double click on that message, "Auto-assign" will appear in that column with a DropDown. If you leave it at Auto-assign and PROCEED, Hasleo will pick a free drive letter and mount the volume there. If you use the offered DropDown, YOU may pick the drive letter to assign to it when it's mounted. When the imaged volume is mounted, the CHECK for the device-to-mount will disappear. To unMOUNT the mounted devices, you may use the <right-click> "Eject" option in the Context menu of the mounted volume. The unMOUNTed device will be gone from the explorer display the next time you open the Windows FileExplorer.
Ha, now it worked. Thank you. Noticed one thing though, when using the menu at the top right for a backup - Mount Image - no search option was presented when that gui came up, but when going from - Tools > Mount/Unmount Image, there was. So then i could mount an old image.
@pb1 - I see that the "Browse" function is missing in the window you refer to... you may accomplish the same thing using the "Change version" LINK in that window, if necessary. The "Browse" function seems redundant in that context... all images are available from either function but with "Change version" you have the image comments available, if needed, to help you determine if you're selecting the right image.
Just to clarify a bit for the Forum Group, Hasleo has released a v4.8 BETA that deals with the following issues... Change logs for V4.8 Beta: 1. Added feature to mount backup image files 2. Added feature to fix VSS issues 3. Improved the performance of checking image files 4. Fixed some bugs to improve product quality
Sorry, I was wrong about the above. They aren't comments, they are image descriptions with date/time and image type available... basically the identical info available from the "Browse" function.
