    Hello @Krusty

That is a very welcome improvement. I learned something today. (But I'll probably forget the next time I turn my head too fast…)

    Cheers

Yeah, I agree that it should make things easier, and I know what you mean about turning your head too fast. :)
    Thanks. :thumb:

Just to be clear, I have no affiliation with the author of the poem, or the website. I just found it one day Googling JOMO.

    Cheers.

Yeah, it's a clever marketing gimmick too. While it is free to check your email address it is not free to do anything about the results.

Did Malwarebytes discontinued free versions of its products or made them harder to get to them.

Tried to install the free version of Malwarebytes and it forced me to activate the trial even when I don’t want to.

I believe thats how its supposed to work, when you install the free version you actually get a trial of the paid version for a period of time, 2 weeks I think.

It used to give you the option to decide if you want to proceed with the free version or activate the trial.

If I remember correctly from visiting their forum I think there still is a way to deactivate the paid version, don't
recall method off top of my head.

Not sure for trial versions, but I hope this helps. From clicking the "head icon", go to "My Subscription," then deactivate subscription/trial?

Edit: I also found out for Premium users, when once tries to uninstall, there's a way to switch to Free version

I believe that it works something like this: You can only download the trial version. It works for what, 30 days? Then it stops working and you will even receive some sort of message that Malwarebytes is no longer working. BUT, it is still working but now only as the free, scan-on-demand version.

If that is not exactly correct how it works, it is very close.

    Hello All:

Malwarebytes has both an online and an offline installer of Malwarebytes 5 for Windows (MB5) which installs the same, identical base application for that version. Yes. This behavior is identical to the previous MB4 edition. An up-to-date offline installer is still available for MB4.

If that freshly installed MB4/5 application does not detect a previous Malwarebytes for Windows installation, a 14-day free trial of Malwarebytes Premium is offered. That offer may be declined at anytime in the 14-day trial period. However, if the offer is declined, a later 14-day free trial will not be available, resumed, renewed or repeated on that device. Of course, if the 14-day free trial is activated and expires, that MBAM application reverts to the free version and the premium only features are no longer active.

Although I am not absolutely certain, the activation of the 14-day free trial separates those who merely download and not execute and those who install and try the premium features. Counts are probably kept for management/marketing, etc.

Malwarebytes for Windows v4.6.13.324-1.0.2319 has been released to General Availability (GA). (19-April-2024)

    Attribution/Announcement: Malwarebytes 4.6

    Features and improvements
    • Minor updates to improve migration to Malwarebytes 5
At this time, Malwarebytes 5 is also available directly from our download site.
    • Currently we are doing a slow rollout of Malwarebytes 5 via automatic updates as we are working on improving support for some non-standard licensing use cases before rolling out to a wider audience.
    • Please note that if the Malwarebytes Privacy VPN app is currently installed, the Malwarebytes 5 installer will only install Malwarebytes 4.
    • If you are using both Malwarebytes 4 and Malwarebytes Privacy VPN, and your products are activated with two different subscriptions or license keys, we recommend that you do not install Malwarebytes 5 at this time.
