I'm glad you posted the screens because when I installed I thought I was missing something as it has less user interaction than the previous version (which wasn't a lot), http://www.bitdefender.com.au/solutions/free.html?target=1. It was reassuring to see I have what I'm supposed to have. It may be worth BD changing the download page to show the latest gui.

This beta doesn't have any settings at all. I hope they'll fix that soon.
BD Free at least mini-tunable.

 

Something I hate of new beta is that on windows 10 it silently quarantines items without any warning. Yesterday I inserted a usb flash drive with a program I use for my job and it suddenly disappeared from the flash drive with no warning. After a while I realized it was a false positive from BD Free and I could restore the file from quarantine. On windows 7 at least there is a little popup when it quarantines files, why not on windows 10 too?

 

Did you turn on quiet mode in the notification tray?

 

I don't see any option like that. Just the option to open the interface if I click on BD tray icon.

 

I meant Windows 10 notifications icon in the tray. I'm not running Windows 10 anymore, but regular notifications on Windows 7 should be displayed as "toast" notifications (Modern UI) or if you enable Quiet mode (or whatever it's called in Windows 10) those will only be listed when you click the Action center/notification icon, without the notification appearing.

 

I'm wondering why they say it's windows 10 supported when the website doesn't state that yet.

 

Isn't that because it's the beta that has been confirmed to support Windows 10, not the stable version?

EDIT: It just did but wasn't very pretty. My PC became unresponsive and eventually I noticed the BD icon was missing from task tray. I was trying to restart when BD suddenly came back. I think program update needs work.

The online installer still installs previous beta...

 

Install previous and it will auto-install new version, probably during the initial installation if you are a new user.

 

Judging from control-panel/programs, there is still V1.0.2.6 installed, after several hours and several reboots...
I've been using Bitdefender-free for years, so my account is several years old.

Which file to check, to find out actual installed version?
Seems like there is no more version info in the UI...

Yeah. It would seem notifications/popups/alerts are still a work in progress in this BETA. I'm gonna hold my breath waiting on it.

I opened the second from the top URL from VX Vault and my browser shut down. Nothing else.

I checked BD Free and there was an event reporting AVC had blocked it, the browser.

Scans with HMP and ESET returned no positives. The browser opened OK.
