Just saw it now, must have arrived in the last three hours. Earlier there was only KB2976978 (twice - as recommended and optional) and KB3135449. (Win 8.1).
Edit: It is also on my Win 7 machine.

I was suspicious as soon as I saw them. I bin everything marked 'optional' now and virtually everything 'recommended'.

That is probably the most sensible thing to do.
I've just got the optional KB3123862 too (start upgrade to Win 10 ) - also binned.

Yes I did, and it went into the hidden assemblage of Win10 KBs. :)

    I'm following Woody's advice: "Patience"

Avoid Windows 10 cumulative update KB 3136562

Just received KB3123862. I am curious as to what this means: "The update adds capabilities to some computers".

    Some computers?
    and
    What capabilities?

I did some research but only found one site that said it doesn’t change any of the identified update to W10 registry entries. I could not find anything that references specific computer makes or models.

Checked for updates on my Windows 7 machine. Found three optional, all got hidden.

Patch KB3123862 is currently an optional update - watch out for it as it may morph.

"If you install the optional update, you find that KB 3123862 gives you brand-spanking-new copies of:

    • Explorer.exe, the Windows File Explorer, and ExplorerFrame.dll, which contains supporting files -- icons, menus, bitmaps -- for Explorer.exe;
    • Shell32.dll, the heart of the Windows interface; and
    • Authui.dll, which controls logins.
If that doesn't send a chill up your spine, you haven't been following along.

The parallels to KB 3035583 are uncanny -- and disquieting. " - source InfoWorld.

Haven't been able to get updates for Vista for two months now. I got updates for Dec. so it was working then. Thought the problem might be related to an update I got in Dec., so restored to Nov. when it also worked but still doesn't work. Tried Windows Fix it and it said it fixed several problems but after reboot still no updates. Also tried the Tweaking.com Windows Repair tool which has worked for me several times in the past but no luck. I think I'm just gonna say adios and good riddance to WU and get on with my life.
