IE11+Sandboxie vs Chrome on Windows 7 SP1 x64

Discussion in 'sandboxing & virtualization' started by viiv, Feb 5, 2016.

  1. That defeats the purpose of setting a deny execute in the downloads directory.

When you have a paid version of Sandboxie, you can set the Downloads folder as a forced folder in stead of setting a deny execute ACL

Can you set this deny execute ACL in the Home Premium version, or does only Professional and Ultimate support this policy in Windows 7?

  3. It is an NTFS feature so works on all Windows versions see picture for instruction.

    Navigate to your Downloads folder.

Since I dont use Chrome and I kept IE9 in my W7, I cant compare the memory usage in Chrome alone against IE11 under Sandboxie. The one thing I can assure you is that when you run programs sandboxed (in general), memory consumption never jumps high.

In my computers, according to Task manager, Sandboxie processes all together usually consume between 8 and 15 MB of RAM. I doubt anyone who reads this thread that uses SBIE have their Sandboxie consume more than 30MB. It doesn't happen. The most RAM assigned to SBIE that I ever seen is about 22 or 23 MB. And on top of this, CPU usage is always a nice clean 0 %.

Using Sandboxie doesn't hurt performance as long as you are not using programs that conflicts with SBIE.

I have three WEB browsers on my machine (IE11 for Windows7 64 bit, Chrome and Firefox) Chrome is my default. I Have Avira FREE as my virus protection software and Malwarebytes FREE. I have Avira do a quick scan every Saturday and I do a manual scan with Malwarebytes every Friday. While the only true safe machine is the one that has never been plugged in I can say I have had very little problems. I also practice safe computing.

    Always,
