I second you. Hysteria, what you have used in your previous post, is fully explanatory what's going on about Win 10 but number of installations speaks for itself. I for one am satisfied with Win 10, I keep it fully updated and I have not encountered any problems yet but it doesn't want be heard especially here on Wilders.

I really like Windows 10 like you and @pegas. The problem is the lack of clear communication from Microsoft about why MCT was unavailable. If Microsoft had communicated the reason there would not be a need for speculation. I myself was worried about having installed a pulled update and not knowing the reason behind it.

Their explanation seems OK and should be enough for average Win 10 users, what is the majority. Though I may understand that the information isn't enough for techies, geeks etc. but Microsoft, as others do (Symantec etc.), understandably doesn't want to communicate these issues on the technical level.

Quite frankly the reason why they pulled it should never have got past QA.

Martin, I understand that. I wasn't having a shot at you either.

I was just saying that TH2 changed more than just four settings. As well as what I've already mentioned it also changed the Privacy Settings in IE11. Any update / upgrade that I receive through Windows Update should NOT change ANY settings in my opinion. If MS want us to use default settings why not remove choices? Of course I am kidding about that but my point stands - leave my settings alone!

I am having a problem with the Store in WIN10. I hope I can bring it up here. I did the upgrade to WIN 10 from WIN7 about a month ago. I have developed a problem with the Store where if I click on the Store icon to open it, the store disappears along with the icon menu. I can bring the icons up on Startup, open an APP, but if I try to access the Store I can't. I tried resetting the cache by clicking WIN + R and typing wsreset.exe and OK, but a window appears saying it can't do it. I tried the trouble shooter, but it says it can't identify a problem. Can anyone clue me in as to what my problem is and how to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Robin: Thanks for responding. I did as you suggested, but the results in red were:
Add-appx package: deployment failed with H result: the appx package's manifest is invalid. error 0x8008024:
app manifest validation error: the app manifest xml must be valid: line 1, column 0 reason: a document must contain exactly one root element.
note: for additional info, look for [activity id]

This also included numbers at the end I didn't think you need. I would add that I am not a tech person, only a home user somewhat familiar with my computer, so please allow for that if you respond with something I need to do. I don't want to make this too long but fwi, when I upgraded to WIN10 from WIN7 I created a snapshot on my Raxco Instant Recovery app, and then copied it creating a second snapshot giving me two copies of WIN10. On snapshot #1 the store works but when I try to get a new app and click open it disappears. It is listed in the menu but it's not there. When I go to settings>system>storage>new apps>will save to: This pc(C) is greyed out.
When I am booted to the snapshot #2 I can't access the store, but the existing apps open. I just re-booted to snapshot #1 where the store works but I can't open new apps when I install them. Clicking on Open the app flashes and disappears. I did same procedure as above, and it was successful on this snapshot. Do you have a suggestion to make the apps open? The time and time zone are correct, and I tried clearing the cache too. No good.
Thanks again for your help. Do you have any other suggestions?

IMO, Microsoft should deploy a patch that will defaultly disable Fast Startup and with next Win 10 build this feature should be removed completely.

I have a graphics problem in my computer and I've traced it to a directx9-10 update that happened after build 586. Any way to revert to an older directx version?

What is your graphics problem? I think the effective direct-x version is fixed by your graphics subsystem [Intel integrated graphics, graphics card], Windows can´t update it.

@Robin A. My notebook uses an Intel HD 5500/ AMD R7 M260 integrated graphics chip. Starting on build 586 whenever I try to use the AMD chip on a directx 9/10 game it will stutter and, sometimes, freeze. Direct X 11 games work without any problem. I currently have no OpenGL games to test. Updating the drivers did nothing to solve the problem, so the DirectX update is the only option left.

Is there a registry tweak to make W10 Start Menu open faster? I know there was for XP.

    @Infected
How to speed up the Start menu in Windows 10
In my case this was alreay applied, I'm guessing that Advanced SystemCare did it.

I personally hated the tweak to reduce the Start Menu delay time in XP, and the fact that many tweaking programs decided to reduce it, as it meant that as soon as you moved the mouse over "All Programs", it opened instantly, whereas with the default delay you had time to keep moving your mouse past it before it opened.

It's not a reason good enough to change my mind about upgrading to Win10 (same as other security enhancements).
