Vivaldi is already a great browser, but I miss the "Delay loading of background tabs" feature like Firefox or Opera have...

Maybe they will add it sooner... :)

Yes I know, it's very fast, but I'm still waiting for a couple of fixes related to features. And I must admit, I'm a bit worried, because I sometimes have 50 or more tabs open in Opera 12, and I don't think that Vivaldi can do the same without using a huge amount of resources. But like I said, I have no choice but to switch.

    Quick question:

Are you guys running Vivaldi together with Sandboxie, or did y'all install it on your real system (non virtualized)?

OK thanks, it feels a bit slow virtualized, probably because Invincea hasn't optimized SBIE for this browser yet. For example, Chrome feels quite smooth. So perhaps I will install it non-virtualized now.

BTW, seems like I was wrong, I noticed that SlimJet does indeed let's you configure the main toolbar, I've never seen this before in Chromium based browsers. So looks like it's easier to tweak the GUI than I thought. So hopefully Vivaldi will offer this kinda stuff.

I've been looking for a replacement for Opera 12.17 for quite some time, so I tried Vivaldi last week and I really didn't like it - uninstalled.
Yesterday I installed Slimjet and so far I like it very much.

May I ask what you didn't like, and what is so great about Slimjet?

    Hi Rasheed,
Vivaldi seems to be very basic at the moment with few options for customisation. I realise it is still in it's infancy so when it has developed further I may give it another spin. I didn't like the appearance of Vivaldi either.
Re Slimjet, I didn't say it was great but I do like it. As you will know it is also a chromium derivative so works much like Chrome (but apparently without phoning home to Google), and as with Chrome has a 'sandbox'. Adblock is also built in and so far I haven't needed any extensions, although I have changed the skin. I run it with js disabled except for trusted websites like Wilders. I am using the 64bit version (yes there is one) and the memory used is much lower than with Chrome. It is customisable and fast, noticably faster than my 1st browser Palemoon. It is presently my second browser but I am using it more and more - right now in fact. Downsides to slimjet are other software don't recognise it, for example I had to create a winapp2.ini file in Ccleaner to get Ccleaner to recognise and clean it.

OK I see. At the moment I'm also not satisfied with a couple of things, but it's getting better and better. And hopefully they will implement certain things that are currently found in Slimjet.

I guess it's not going to have alot of the functionality of the opera 12xx builds, still it seems to be a good browser in it's own right

Most definitely snappier and smoother than Palemoon which is used most often.

Will have to keep a close watch on this one. So far so good over here.

The thing that really needs to be fixed is the current bookmarks manager, this is my biggest gripe at the moment. Basically, it should become like the one in Opera 33.
