    Hello amarildojr:

If you are referring to the recently released file version 7.6.2.0, as opposed to file version 7.6.1.0, I have not read about any issues yet.

If you are referring to the standalone tool itself in general, I believe you will find JRT had found its way to the "must have" toolbox of the majority of online malware removal professionals long ago, and even before JRT was acquired by Malwarebytes Corporation.

It has been announced, by the Malwarebytes Corporate CEO, that JRT will eventually be made an integral part of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), the flagship product of Malwarebytes.

Hello 1PW, and thank you for posting the JRT updates. Is JRT now giving users the option to delete what it finds, or is it still arbitrarily removing files without user input?

    Hello Page42:

    You're welcome as always.

My non-authoritative answer is JRT will make non-interactive deletions on those items it considers a positive.

If you would like to ask the developer yourself, I believe I saw Filipos (@thisisu) "watching the store" today. Please try posting a query in Malwarebytes Junkware Removal Tool Support for an authoritative answer.

    Thank you.

Until and unless I read otherwise, your non-authoritative answer is fine by me. I figure you'd know if such a change had been instituted. Keep up the good work! :thumb:

Does this app allow you to override something it wants to remove, or does it just remove without asking?

@Adric It automatically deletes everything, which is why I don't use it.

    Hello Adric:

When the system in question has been setup/permitted to do so, one of the very first actions the current JRT takes is to generate a Windows System Restore Point (SRP) before performing any of its remaining tasks.

Although system-restore point is generated, there is some risk.
Restore does not always work, or and corruptes Adobe licensing...

In my opinion JRT and ComboFix are risky tools, only use them if anything else fails.

In my opinion the chance of something getting broken and having issues after running JRT would be very minimal. The biggest issue in my opinion is that JRT may remove software you actually use. At least with AdwCleaner, you can view the detected items, and uncheck files and registry keys you want to keep.

I remember that JRT was removing the PC-Doctor diagnostics software that comes preinstalled on a lot of laptops. That is something I would not want removed, as it can be useful. I don't know if JRT still removes it as I have not used it for months.

I agree, when it comes to standard software,
but on machines that use custom software, or software that is not widely spread, there is a high risk.
That said, the high risk is with any other on demand, or on access Anti Malware.

The difference is that, with JRT, or ComboFix, there is no option to choose, what to purge and what to keep.

    Backups, backups, backups.

Of course that never seems to be the case with the systems of others.

Just as you where writing, I did a full image backup of my system drive, that is stored on a removeable disc, that is stored outside my office,
in an burglarproof and fireproof cellar.

    But that's just me....
