No interest in 10 tried it rolled back, seems it designed for touch devices GUI. 7 will always be the best it just works just like XP did.

Yes I have come to same conclusion. At least until January 2020, when MS will stop supporting it.

I'm seeing pretty much the same things as you. Mass media = hollow hyped clickbait
I'll diverge on Google though; I don't want "more secure" when it means security by self-inflicted denial-of-service, so I had to switch to a browser that supports NPAPI.

Like it or not, Microsoft owns the home market: Apple is too expensive and linux is too complicated.

I wouldn't say that at all. Explorer isn't stable, keeps self-restarting. Freakin' Explorer man, c'mon!
"No BSODs" isn't praiseworthy...it's supposed to not crash.
I like 10 and despite it not being as stable as 7 or xp, it still seems smoother. Multi-display is finally native (use windows on one display whilst being fullscreen in another--even with DirectX).

What bothers me is that we are 4.3 years from that date.

Yes... the sad truth is that the market will have to use whatever MS shoves on them. As mentioned, Apple is quite costly in comparison, and Linux is still not quite ready for mass acceptance and the average user. As long as nearly every new PC or laptop runs Win 10 out of the box, MS will control the market, and you can bet they will make every attempt to phase out the older OS versions as quickly as possible.

It's 4.3 years to find something else or stay with unsupported OS (Windows XP situation all over again).

Yes, complaining without cause is common. But, in that case, the good news for MSFT (and advocates of less user control) may be that those without explainable cause will eventually accept (through fatigue alone) the new standard. Is complaining about complainers while equating and distorting the content of their criticism any better, or is it worse?

I didn't pay much attention to W8' direction. Too busy. I've, for the most part, admired MSFT's accomplishments over the years. Still do. Because of 10's forced updates and its privacy issues, when and if I use the 10 OS, it will be because I have no choice in the matter. I don't figure MSFT will appreciably change its course so I'm working on trying to avoid not having other choices.

I'm a non-expert and am not complaining. MSFT can do what it wants with their OS. I hope they fail and then wake-up. Giving users some control, if they want it, doesn't jeopardize the 'social contract'. It enhances it.

    I'm looking forward to this.

Windows 10 has added so many new settings, all nicely grouped in Settings.

Having to jump back and forth between Settings and items located in Control Panel are not intuitive.
It will be a relief to have it all implemented in Settings instead.

I'm afraid I don't agree with you about Settings Martin :)

I much prefer the Control Panel and think they should have just left it in without starting a new area for it in a different format.

Just a personal choice thing really.

Every person are different of course and have different likes and dislikes.

The problem with always leaving the old UI behind as an option, is that it holds back innovation and makes everything clumsy and complex.

wow that sucks did ms not think this is the another 'Start' button mass hysteria case again !

I would prefer the classic control panel or at least the option to revert back to it, guess with the new one however will need to get use to it. Maybe should register and purchase classicpanel.com or classic control panel.com !

The classic control panel is effectively useless since, as @Martin_C stated, we have to bounce between the two. This is awful. My feedback was that MS needs to pick one and make it a good one.
