A while back I had a similar issue when running Free Flash Decompiler directly from Chrome after download.
I suspect that this is the same issue.

    Problem

    1. User downloads binary (the SDK)
    2. User starts binary installer (the SDK)
    3. The installer uses Java
    4. Alert detects that Java was started (albeit indirectly) from the browser (= Lockdown)
    5. Java wants to run executable -> Blocked (since Alert thinks Java is running by browser)

    Short version

You started Java from the browser and Java wants to execute file on disk.

    Workaround/solution
Run the executable from Windows Explorer instead straight from the browser.

We will see if we can smooth things in a future version of Alert.

    Hope this helps.

I will try to create a new W7 64-bit VM in Workstation. This is my sole production PC used for university and personal work. I was only asking for experience. Will try to test in next week or so.
I was using the current Stable release HitmanPro.Alert 3.0.48 Build 196.

I am using the stable release: HMP.Alert v3.0.48 build 196.
This is true. As a sidenote ESET Smart Security v9 is very, very close to RTM in the US.

HMP.A 3.0.53 build 201: running smoothly on Vista Home Premium SP2, x64. Updated automatically from 196 on most recent reboot without issue.

All's well as far as I can tell.

    Updated automatically?
Not on my Vista x86, so far.

    And I thought HMP.A 3.0.53 build 201 was only a pre-release,
    with HMP.A 3.0.55 build 203 being the latest pre-release for the 3.0.

Is HMP.A 3.0.53 build 201 now offered with automatic updating?
    Or is it not?

Scratch the "updated automatically" part, sorry. Tuns out I did download it manually it two weeks ago. Lotta stuff going on around the house lately.

The main point I wanted to pass along, though, was that build 201 is running great on Vista HP x64.

    Conflict with Kaspersky IS 2016 on W 8.1 o_Oo_Oo_O

This has happened on two distinct installs, system restores, and reinstalls.

With KIS and HMPA installed, cannot open browsers and Windows 8.1 will eventually freeze. The problem of a virtually unusable system persists after an uninstall of HMPA. System Restore, which becomes hard to access when this happens (takes several attempts as Windows usually will not boot or boots into an inoperable state) is the only savior.

I have decided not to use Kaspersky IS. I'd prefer to keep HMPA. Using it with BD IS 2016 with no issues.

Please specify which version/build of HitManPro and HitManPro.alert you are using.

Kis 2016 is problematic with several programs like SBIE

    @erik

No logs or errors, but I ran into an issue on several machines and VM's where when I'd press a key to enter a password, it went nuts with spewing letters. I turned of encryption and haven't seen any issue since. Win7x64 and HMPA b318

Why would you want HMPA to cover CC Cleaner ?!?
For the 1000th time: Adding every random executable you can find on your PC to EMET/HMPA/MBAE will only cause compatibility issues.

Maybe you're right, but... I have used CCleaner countless and countless times and then suddenly a ROP.

I'm running HMPA 3.1.0 build 318 and CCleaner v5.10.5373 works without problems here. (Windows 10 Pro x64)
