Hi guys. I tried the Adguard Beta and found it slowed page loads over uBlock. Also some encrypted sites were either very slow or stalled.
Is adguard going to get a feature like adblock plus to allow acceptable ads? Currently adguard has an "acceptable ads" feature but it seems to function differently. Adguards acceptable list seems to allow ads that are relevant to the users search etc. Adblock plus' acceptable ads allows some ads through to the user that only meet very specific requirements (ie non intrusive, no full page ads, non distracting placement). I think adguard should have an option like this for users that dont want those extremely intrusive ads but want to help content creators with ad revenue. https://adblockplus.org/acceptable-ads
Nope, it is not similar at all. Acceptable ads is a way ABP earns money yet they are trying to tell everybody that's a good thing. In our case the only thing which is unblocked is search ads as it may be really helpful to user. We are not getting paid by ad networks and such, that's why the list is short and relevant.
By the way, long time no see guys We have just started AG for iOS beta test: https://twitter.com/AdguardEn/status/652525123698884608
I think next week. I put it on hold until I finish reviewing our iOS and Android releases. As both are ready now, tomorrow I'll return to the work on Win version, review what's done, fix some issues myself and then second beta will be finally ready
Nothing good for now. The only option for Win Mobile is a VPN app. Unfortunately this time it should be a real vpn, not that trick with embedded vpn server we use in AG for Android. We were planning to make it for IOS first and then for other platforms. But because of a new IOS9 content blocker feature we have decided to put it aside and release a content blocker app first. One day we will finish it it's just a bit hard to maintain so many apps. I guess it's time to expand our team.
Can anyone replicate this? Browser: Google Chrome Website: YouTube.c*m Problem: While Adguard for Windows is enabled, YouTube.c*m stays in a continuous loading loop, but once Adguard for Windows is disabled, YouTube.c*m loads instantly. This seems to only be a Google Chrome issue, as I couldn't replicate this in other browsers.
So, when you look on the browser tab, you don't see a spinning circle? I should have pointed out that YouTube.c*m loads some content, but not all of it, while AdGuard is enabled.
That's my fault, I've spent a lot of time working on Android version lately and couldn't finish some important Win-version tasks because of this. Also other devs are waiting for me to review what's done. This week I am finally all in windows version so new beta will be ready soon. Yep, that's because we are from Russia and this is cyrillic name of our company (sounds like "Performix" in english). Unfortunately paypal cannot print it in latin.
Just the filters enabled by default, with no custom rules set... User filter English filter Spyware filter Social Media Filter
Could you please try the next beta version? Will be available today or on monday (preparing it right now, but I am not sure if we have enough time today).
When it is ready, I'll definitely give it a go. I found another thing wrong with the latest beta. Issue: When selecting YouTube videos in HD (720p, 1080p), Adguard slows the loading/buffering of those videos down dramatically. Disabling Adguard while watching in HD (720p, 1080p), the videos load/buffer with absolutely no issues. In case this helps: I'm using Firefox (Latest stable build 41.0.2), with no extensions installed. Note: As for other browsers, I haven't tested to see if the same problem exists.
