I recently installed win 10 just before I installed I found I had 6 copies of C++ redistributeable in my programs folder that I did not install. Is this normal when going from win 8 to 10?
Too new to 10 to make much judgement yet but it did take 10 hrs. to load and install.
Real slow tho I need to find some way to speed it up.

I dont know if its normal going from 8 to 10 but it seems normal to have many instances of c++

I guess its like the diff versions of microsoft.net that are needed to run different applications

I don't know about the C++ redistributable (sp?) issue, but if you upgraded from 8.1 to 10, and things are slow, I'd recommend a nice clean install from ISO. I upgraded 7 to 10, and it was super slow and sluggish, terrible. After a clean install, like night and day, much quicker and very good now.

The C++ Redistributable is a runtime for software that was written in Microsoft Visual C++. If you are on a 64 bit machine you will likely have the 64 and 32 bit version for a particular release of C++. If removed it will likely break whatever software installed it. It should not slow your machine as it will only be used by whatever software requires it. If you clean install Windows you will likely only get them back, so I would not do it solely for that reason. If you clean install do it for reasons other than this, but I can say I have upgraded at least 15 machines from either Windows 7 or 8.1 and all of them have been fine. I have 16 instances of the C++ redist installed and I have no issues and intend to do nothing about it.

Unlike most posters who seemed to have trouble getting 10 to install, other than the amount of time required it went smooth updateing a few drivers was a chore. Learning how to use it will be a bit of a curve and I doubt I will ever like it but it is whats available. I think it is too pushy about wanting to sync and use the cloud for everything and it seems that by design everybody can just use my connection. That I do not like, but tat is just me buy yer own internet time.
Not much likeing the new browser looks like somebody's kid made it, why is there no home button I have to close out restart the browser to go anywheres else.
Off my soap box for now. Soon as I get a cd/dvd player/writer I will try makeing ISO.

yes cold be possible. for example the ati drivers require this. during the upgrade your drivers could have been upgrade and this could have changed this. hard to say exactly what it was from but yes very possible. all notifications can be turned off as well as all data collection.
